mysqli::character_set_name -- mysqli_character_set_nameReturns the default character set for the database connection

Description

Object oriented style (method):

string mysqli::character_set_name ( void )

Procedural style:

string mysqli_character_set_name ( mysqli $link )

Returns the current character set for the database connection.

Parameters

link

Procedural style only: A link identifier returned by mysqli_connect() or mysqli_init()

Return Values

The default character set for the current connection

Example #1 Object oriented style

/* check connection */
if (mysqli_connect_errno()) {

The above example will output:
